Video Therapy

Social distancing should not intefere with access to quality therapy. During this time consistent clinical support is paramount. All of our clinicians are experienced with our easy-to-use, private, and confidential HIPAA compliant video therapy.

If you are feeling an increase in anxiety that is interfering with your daily activities, have concerns about your future plans, or experiencing a sense of sadness or depression due to this upheaval, it is all very understandable. Starting therapy or continuing regular sessions during times of uncertainty can provide much needed reassurance and consistency.

Please contact our Practice Manager, Craig Cohen, for more information about how to get started with video therapy sessions.

Video Session (teletherapy) FAQs:

For all video sessions held on a computer it's super easy and no additional software is needed.

How to access a computer video session:

Open the reminder email you receive from our Client Portal and click the unique link. When you are ready, enter your name and click Join Video Call. This will take you straight into the video call.

If your therapist has already joined the call, you will see their face on the screen. If I have not, you will see just yourself.

General video session tips:

Find a quiet and private place with high speed internet and adequate lighting where you will not be disturbed.

Computer/device: Please use an up to date PC, Mac, or tablet with a high-quality integrated camera, microphone, and speakers. Make sure your operating system and browser are on the latest version. For mobile, we recommend using at least iOS 10 or Android 6.0.

Quit/close other programs. If you have several programs running in the background, closing them will almost certainly improve the quality.

Internet: For optimal results, a reliable, high-speed internet connection with a bandwidth of at least 10 mbps will minimize connection issues and provide the best quality.

Browsers: Telehealth by SimplePractice works on the latest versions of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox on desktops/laptops. For Android, it can be run using Google Chrome for Android, Mozilla Firefox for Android, or with our Android app. iOS devices can use Safari or our iOS app.

WiFi: Use wired Ethernet instead of WiFi if at all possible. For WiFi, moving closer to your router might help overall quality.

Lighting: Some small lighting tweaks that can make a nice difference include placing a lamp or other light source behind your monitor, pointed toward you. If possible, try not to have too much light behind you.

If you’re on a laptop, ensure the camera is at eye level and not pointing up at the ceiling lights, or down at the floor.
